Coconut Ada – Coconut Pancakes

Maida Ada or Pancakes made using Plain Flour used to be one of my childhood tea time snacks. There was another sweet pancake made using Rice Flour and Grated Coconut. We called it Thenga Ada meaning Coconut Pancakes. These coconut pancakes are easy to make and you can have it with any Chutney, Stew or any spicy Curry. Whenever I have in a hurry and don’t get time to make Palappam or Dosha, I make these simple pancakes for breakfast. Here is the recipe for Coconut Ada.

    Thank u for the recipes.
Can I substitute coconut milk for grated coconut..??

    Hi Archana,
Grated Coconut gives texture to the Ada. Coconut Milk will make the batter runny. Hence, I wouldn’t suggest replacing grated coconut with coconut milk.

do I use fresh grated coconut or dried grated coconut?

    Hi,
You can use fresh or frozen grated coconut. I haven’t tried it with the dried version.

    Thanks
